Getting a puppy to Alabama
Alabama is 1,600 to 1,800 miles from Sedona, which works out at 2 to 3 days by road. The puppy is driven the whole way in a climate-controlled vehicle, with stops to walk, feed and check it.

Alabama regulates the dog, not the breed
Alabama has no statewide breed ban. The state’s dangerous dog law, passed in 2018, is breed-neutral and works through a determination made about an individual animal after an incident, with real consequences attached. Nothing in it references breed.
There’s no statewide preemption though, so an Alabama municipality is free to write its own restriction, and some have. Birmingham, Montgomery, Mobile and Huntsville are each separate answers to that question and each is worth a phone call to the city clerk before you commit.

Whatever your state does, the two things worth confirming in writing before you commit are your own city or county code and your landlord, association or insurer, because private rules aren’t affected by any state law. Deep South heat with no dry season
Alabama summers combine high temperatures with high humidity from May into September, which is the specific combination this breed handles worst. A bully in Mobile in August is an air-conditioned dog for the middle of the day, and that’s the honest answer rather than a caution I’m obliged to print.
Winters are mild enough that a bully needs nothing more than a coat on the coldest mornings in the north of the state. My own ground runs into Alabama travel overnight through the summer months and I’ll move a date rather than take a puppy through a heat advisory.
