Plains heat, and a lot of ground between vets
Kansas summers are hot and humid enough to matter, particularly through the eastern half of the state. The same caution applies as further south: overnight travel from late spring, and no walks on open ground in the middle of a July afternoon.
The western half brings a different practical point. There is a lot of distance between towns out towards Colorado, and if you are out that way it is worth knowing where your nearest emergency vet actually is before you need one.
