Nevada doesn’t allow a breed ban
Nevada state law prohibits a local government from declaring a dog dangerous or vicious on the basis of its breed. That has been the position since 2013 and it applies across the state, so neither Las Vegas nor Reno nor Clark County can ban the breed outright. As everywhere, an individual dog can still be declared dangerous for its own behavior.
The restrictions Nevada buyers actually run into come from HOAs and from landlords rather than from the county. Las Vegas has a very large managed-community and rental stock, and breed clauses in those documents are common and enforceable.
Ordinances change and this isn’t legal advice. The state-by-state dog law tables at Michigan State University are the reference collection if you want to read the statute yourself. Whatever your state does, the two things worth confirming in writing before you commit are your own city or county code and your landlord, association or insurer, because private rules aren’t affected by any state law. Summer in the Las Vegas valley
Las Vegas gets hotter than Phoenix does on its worst days and stays hot later into the night, which matters because the overnight recovery is what a heavy dog relies on. Asphalt in a Las Vegas parking lot in July will burn a pad in seconds. Boots are a partial answer and dawn walks are the real one.
Reno is a different climate entirely, high desert at 4,500 feet with proper winters, and much easier on this build of dog. If you’re in the north of the state, the summer constraints below barely apply to you.
