I’m in Sedona, Arizona. San Antonio is roughly 950 miles, a comfortable two-day run, and drier than the Gulf coast which makes it an easier delivery than Houston.
The military housing point, which catches people out
San Antonio has one of the largest military populations in the country, and privatised base housing at Fort Sam Houston, Lackland and Randolph restricts pit bull type dogs by lease.
A lease isn’t preempted by the Texas statute. Texas law stops the city from banning the breed; it does nothing about a housing contract you signed. If you’re living on post, the housing office is the only answer that counts, and it’s worth asking before you place a deposit rather than after orders arrive.
Climate
Hot but drier than Houston, which matters more than the temperature does for a short-muzzled dog. Summer deliveries still travel overnight, and the usual precautions apply from May through September.
