Families and Their Puppies

Photographs from real handovers. What I don’t have yet is a wall of written testimonials, and I’d rather show you that than invent them.

These are photographs from actual collection days, published with the buyers' agreement. I don’t publish written testimonials on this site, because a quote typed onto a kennel’s own page is worth very little to you and there’s no way for you to check it. What can be checked is my veterinarian, whose name and number are on every page of this website, and my Google Business Profile, where reviews are left by people I can’t edit.

Collection days

Collection day. The puppy goes home with its written health record and enough of its current food to change over gradually.

Every puppy is handed over in person or by a courier who carries it in the cabin. Never a cargo hold and never a freight depot.

Delivered out of state. Florida is the hardest climate I send a dog into and I talk that through properly before anyone commits.

How to actually check a breeder, including me

Testimonials are the weakest form of evidence a kennel can offer, because they’re free to write and impossible to verify. Here’s what’s worth more, and all of it applies to me as much as to anybody else you’re considering.

  1. Ask who does the veterinary work. Mine is Bell Rock Veterinary Clinic in Sedona, and every puppy is examined there before it travels.
  2. A video call with the puppy and the dam. Not a photograph, a live call, arranged whenever suits you. The dam lives here.
  3. Ask what happens if it doesn’t work out. I’ll take back any dog I’ve bred, at any point in its life, with no time limit and no questions asked.
  4. Ask how many litters a year. You’ll get a number. A high-volume operation will change the subject.
  5. Look at reviews you can’t control. A Google Business Profile, where the business can’t delete what it doesn’t like, is worth more than any page like this one.

You’ll notice this page carries no star rating. That’s deliberate. Google doesn’t show rich-result stars for reviews a business collects about itself, self-serving ratings are excluded by policy, and an invented number would be dishonest regardless of what Google did with it. Real ratings belong on the Google profile.

If you’ve bought a puppy from me

A review left on my Google Business Profile is genuinely useful, more so than anything you could send me to publish here, because a prospective buyer can see it isn’t mine to edit. If you’d rather send a photograph of your dog grown up, I’d like that even more, and I’ll ask before putting it anywhere.

And if something went wrong, tell me directly first. Every problem this kennel has had was fixable and the ones that weren’t fixed were the ones nobody mentioned until afterwards.
