Lake effect, a humid July, and an easy winter for the dog
Wisconsin winters suit this breed. Cold is not the problem; the humid stretch of July and August is, particularly along the lake where the air sits heavy. That is when the walks move to early morning and when my deliveries switch to overnight running.
Lake-effect snow is the travel variable rather than the temperature. It can close a road on one side of the state while the other is clear, so a winter date is planned with a spare day and I will hold a puppy rather than drive into it.
