I’ve no chocolate puppies in the current group. It’s uncommon in the breed. The premium the market attaches: moderate. I charge $700 for every puppy regardless of coat, so none of that premium applies here.

I’d rather show you nothing than show you nine puppies that aren’t chocolate and hope you don’t notice. Coats change litter to litter, so tell me what you’re after and I’ll say honestly whether it’s coming. What I do have is below.

What makes a chocolate American Bully chocolate
b/b at the B locus. This converts all black pigment in the dog to brown, including the nose, lips and eye rims, which is the reliable way to distinguish it from a very dark seal or a washed-out black.
How to tell it’s genuinely chocolate
Confused with seal and with dark brindle more than any other coat, and this is the mislabelling worth guarding against because chocolate carries a premium. One check settles it: a true chocolate has a brown nose, brown lips and brown eye rims. Black nose means not chocolate.
What chocolate costs, and what I charge
Usually $1,500 to $3,000. Fairly priced by the standards of this breed, and it carries none of the dilution risk that the similarly priced coats do.
The single most useful thing on this page is how to verify a chocolate: look at the nose. True chocolate turns every black pigment in the dog brown, so the nose leather, the lips and the eye rims are brown too. A dog with a dark brown coat and a black nose isn’t a chocolate, it’s a seal or a dark brindle being described optimistically. This matters because chocolate carries a premium and the mislabelling is common.

None. Chocolate is full pigment, not diluted, so the alopecia risk doesn’t apply.
