XL bullies stand 20 to 23 inches at the withers for a male and typically weigh 80 to 120 pounds. It’s a height class rather than a separate breed, on the same frame and temperament as a standard. Mine are $700, which is well under the $2,000 to $5,000 the class usually commands.

Buying an XL well
Ask what the parents measure at the withers rather than what they weigh. Height defines the class; weight is the number sellers inflate, and a fat bully photographs as an impressive one.
Beyond that, the things that matter with a big dog are structural. Watch the parents move away and back. Look for a front assembly that’s wide without being splayed, and a dog that stands square rather than propped.
What a hundred pounds actually means day to day
More food, more medication by weight, higher boarding fees, and a genuine handling question if anyone in the household is small or unsteady. It also means a dog that’s harder to lift into a car at twelve years old when its hips hurt, which is worth picturing now.
Heat is a bigger constraint on a heavy dog than a light one, and joint loading over twelve years is the reason keeping an XL lean matters more than it does for a pocket.
