A humid July and a cold, easy winter
Iowa summers are more humid than their reputation suggests, and humidity is what makes heat dangerous for this breed rather than the number on the thermometer. From late spring my deliveries into Iowa travel overnight, and I would move a date rather than run a dog through an advisory.
Winter is the straightforward half. Cold suits a bully, and the only thing that shifts a date is ice on the interstates rather than temperature. The drive from Sedona is a two day run in either direction.
Two Iowa specifics worth knowing. Heartworm pressure is real here and preventative should be year-round rather than seasonal. And if you walk a dog on field edges in late summer, grass awns work their way into ears and between toes and can need a vet to remove, so a check after a walk in the stubble saves a lot of trouble.
